About Fergal Clancy

Fergal Clancy Counselling was founded with a deep-rooted passion for supporting individuals in their journey towards mental health and well-being. With a background in addiction counselling, men's mental health support, and youth counselling, I bring a unique blend of experience and empathy to my practice. My work with adolescents in schools, and with adults in the HSE Drug and Alcohol Service has shaped my dedication to providing personalised care and support. I have a  genuine interest in people's well-being that shines through in every interaction, creating a safe and trusting environment for clients to explore and address their mental health challenges.

My qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Counselling Skills and Addiction Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy with Addictions.

My experience began in 2012 with working with children and adolescents in primary and secondary schools through the Schools Completion Programme, and with adults in my private practice. In 2018 I joined the HSE Drug & Alcohol service where I spent seven years supporting clients with addictions in County Galway. 2025 saw the move to the private sector to offer my services to the Clare, Galway, and Limerick areas, and further afield through my online service.

I have a keen interest in Sports and the affect of sports psychology on performance. My playing career included representing Galway in minor hurling and my club in senior football and hurling. In 2011, my first year in club management, I brought my local club from intermediate to senior hurling after a thirty three year absence. In 2018, I provided support to Martin Mulkerrins when he won the All Ireland Senior Handball Title, the first time a Galway man achieved this feat.
